We're writing today to share that XAM Chat, our AI-powered Discord bot, has been discontinued. This wasn't an easy decision, but it was the right one, and we want to be completely transparent about why, what happened to your data, and what comes next.
Why We Shut It Down
Put simply, the costs became too much. Every message sent to XAM Chat required API calls to AI model providers, and those bills added up fast. On top of that, the cloud infrastructure needed to keep the bot running reliably was its own ongoing expense. Between AI costs and cloud bills, it just wasn't sustainable for us to keep operating.
We decided to shut it down rather than let it degrade, and redirect our focus toward XAM Tools, a product that's far more sustainable for us to build and maintain, while still delivering real value to the people who use it.
Your Data Has Been Deleted
This is the part we want to be crystal clear about: all user data associated with XAM Chat has been permanently deleted.
That means:
- All stored Discord User IDs have been wiped
- All conversation history and message logs have been deleted
- All daily message counts and server data have been removed
- All user preferences and settings have been purged
There is nothing left in our systems. You do not need to email us or use any commands to request data deletion. It's already done. Every user's data has been removed entirely, no action required on your part.
What We're Focusing On Instead
With XAM Chat behind us, we've been able to go all-in on XAM Tools, our suite of 50+ browser-based utilities for images, documents, design, and development. It's ad-free, privacy-first, and processes everything in your browser so your files never leave your device.
XAM Tools is a much more sustainable product for us. It doesn't carry the per-request API costs that made XAM Chat unsustainable, and it lets us focus on building something that can grow without compromising on quality or privacy.
We're also exploring new bot ideas that will be more sustainable to operate. Bots that can deliver great features without the massive infrastructure costs of real-time AI chat. Stay tuned for announcements on that front.
